Education for Careers - One elective required for all 9th graders is Education for Careers.This course helps all freshmen make the academic move from middle to high school.Units of study include graduation requirements, success and study skills, goal setting, decision making, communication skills, work place skills, and career exploration.Reading practice and comprehension strategies are integrated into this curriculum.All freshmen are required to update and use a planner and to reflect daily in “Take 5” writing.
Faculty Team - Ninth grade core teachers, agriculture teacher, and Ed. For Careers teacher meet weekly to check on student progress, plan for parent conferences and address student related concerns.
Weekly Conferences - Small groups of freshmen meet with the Freshman Coordinator on a weekly basis to discuss grades, evaluate behavior, and set personal and school goals.
